March 20th, 1866 in Ste Foy, Quebec he married Susan Ann McKie, daughter of Robert McKie & Elisabeth Murray. Shortly after their marriage they immigrated to Harrison County, Iowa. The couple had 2 children Emily Marinda "Emma" 1868-1937 and Amelia (1870-1870) William's occupation was a carpenter. He died from an illness that he contracted while serving in the Civil War.
