In 1993, Jennings D. Means published a "Supplement to "The Means Family of America" and this Supplement changed the first pages of the "Means" book as to the origins of the Means.

Robert and Hannah are both buried in the old Means Family burial ground which is located on property that originally belonged to Robert's brother, John Means and then his sister, Margaret Means Keever. At the present it is in very neglected state but a picture of their tombstones taken in about 1932 shows their inscriptions quite clearly.

Robert lived on the original homstead of his father in Derry Township and was a farmer all his life. It is believed that the "Mansion House" was built in the early 1800's. It was constructed of milled lumber which was at that time thought to be the finest material. It is very possible that the milling was done at Strode's Mill which was one of the first lumber mills in Mifflin County. The original cabin remained standing near the "Mansion House" until recently when it was removed by the present owners.
