DEATH CAME FRIDAY NIGHT; BURIAL MONDAY

Mrs. Wallace I. Lyons passed away about 7 o'clock last Friday evening, July 3, at the home of her son, Paul in Metz. Deceased had been bedfast for several weeks. Her condition had been serious and at no time was hope given for her recovery.

Funeral services were held at the Metz Christian Church at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Earl Bingham. Burial was in Balltown cemetery.

Pallbearers were three grandsons, Homer Lyons, Howard Lyons and Ralph Sheddrick and three great grandsons, Jimmie Lyons, Billy Lyons and Johnie Baze.

Mrs. Howard Lyons and Mrs. C. L. Plummer, with Mrs. Bill Breneman at the organ, sang, "Under His Wing" and "In the Land Where We'll Never Grow Old."

Lillie Pearl, daughter of James and SanteFe Ewell Welch, was born at Panama October 29, 1875, and at her death was aged 88 years, 8 months and 4 days.

On February 27, 1894, she was united in marriage at her home to Wallace I. Lyons and to this union 6 children were born.

Mrs. Lyons had spent her entire life in the community with the exception of a few years she and her husband lived in the west and later in Kansas. In later years ill health forced her to make her home with a daughter in Grant City.

She leaves to mourn her passing three sons, Rex A. of Porterville, Calif., Herbert J. of Nevada and Paul I. of Metz and two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Marshburn of Hampton, Va., and Mrs. Nellie Porter of Grant City.

Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Jessie Weddle of Rich Hill.

She was preceded in death by a son, Luther Lynn who died in April, 1932; her husband who passed away November 29, 1949, and a sister, Mrs. Belle Dixon.

Deceased was a member of the Metz Christian Church.
