Born on the farm near Mono Mills, Ont., about 1869. Seventh of 10 children born to Peter Frederick Slater and his wife Mary Jenkins Slater. Thomas Edwin Slater homesteaded in the North West Territories in 1901 along with his brother William Jenkins Slater. Married Edith Mary Nellis whose parents homesteaded on an adjacent quarter. Served as Reeve of the RM of Tecumseh. Wife, Edith, and sister, Eliza, are buried in the same section. Eight children, all deceased. Six are attached to this file. The missing two are: Hubert John Slater,1916-1984, Binscarth, Manitoba; and Nelles Jane Slater Mollard.
