Howard Douglas Green

Howard Douglas Green, Ponca City resident, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at Westminster Village. He was 85.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of the Trout Funeral Home.

Douglas was born on March 18, 1920, in Conway, Ark. He was the son of Howard and Ola Bowling Green. He served in World War II in the Air Force. On Dec. 31, 1966, Doug and Mary Ann Biby were married in Reno, Nev.

Doug was a lifetime member of VFW and the American Legion and a member of the Elks Lodge. He was a friend to many and a stranger to none and was known to many as "Do-It-All-Doug" because of his handiness. Always a big kid at heart, Doug bought a jet ski at the age of 80 and could be seen on many sunny days out on the lake. Doug was very active all of his life and enjoyed spending time with his family. If Doug had the choice to sit it out or dance, you would find him on the dance floor. He loved dancing.

Doug will be greatly missed in the lives of many.

Survivors include his companion, Helen Rice of Ponca City; sister, Margaret Simpson of Grove; friends, Sandi and Jim Hedinger of Ponca City; sons, Jimmy Green of Ponca City and Dayna Green of Kent, Wash.; daughters, Diana McDonald of Apple Valley, Calif., and Denise Green of Palm Desert, Calif.; stepson, Danny Biby of Shidler; stepdaughters, Linda Fox of Folsom, Calif., and Toni Biby of Ponca City; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse and one sister, Cora Lee.

The family would like to thank Westminster Village for the loving care Doug received and extend to friends that memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Village, 1601 Academy Dr., Ponca City, Okla. 74604.
