A Mass of Christian Burial for Maria Ramirez Vargas, 96, of Belton will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church in Belton with the Rev. Hilario Guajardo officiating.

Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.

Mrs. Vargas died Friday, Oct. 30, at her home.

She was born on Aug. 24, 1913, to Domingo and Rufina Mares Ramirez in Belton. She married Pedro Vargas on Oct. 1, 1928, in Waco and she was a homemaker. She was also a member of Guadalupana, Cruzitia and Christ the King Catholic Church in Belton. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Edward Vargas Sr.

Survivors include three sons, Joe Vargas Sr. of Temple, Amos Vargas of Ocean Spring, Miss., and Almon "Chico" Bargas of San Antonio; six sisters, Bessie Bautista, Kathryn Vargas and Irene Vargas, all of Belton, Dolores Guajardo of Temple, Donna Lary of Fort Worth and Dorothy Mendoza of Hewitt; 39 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m
