Daryle "Tootie" Clayton, 70, 300 E. Clinton, died at 2:42 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 29, 2004) in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

He was born Jan. 10, 1934, in Avon, the son of Orrie M. and Naomi Stephenson Clayton.

He married Evelyn Wilson on May 31, 1963.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Kenny Clayton, Avon; two daughters, Cheryl Clayton, Canton, and Janice (and Tom) Oelkers, Dunlap; a brother, Bob Clayton; three sisters, Martha Clayton, Beverly Clayton and Sue Kitchens; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.

He lived all his life in Avon.

He worked at Briggs Pottery. He was retired.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Corman Memorial Home, with the Rev. John Simpson officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Avon Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.
