OBITUARY

James E. Isaacs was born in Arnold's Valley, Botatot (sic) county, Virginia, January 22, 1855, and died February 11, 1936, at the age of 81 years and 19 days.

When just a boy, his family moved to Indianapolis. When he was a young man, his father died and Mr. Isaacs with his mother and the rest of the family moved to Neosha (sic) Falls, Kan.

He became engaged in railroad construction work and while laying steel across the Mississippi river bridge that connects Iowa and Illinois, he met Miss Clara Redden, whom he later married. They resided in Fort Madison, Iowa, about six months and then moved to Devon, Kan., where Mr. Isaacs was section foreman for over 13 years, when he retired from railroad work.

In 1902, Mr. Isaacs moved his family to Enid, where he has lived ever since. He had worked on practically every brick building around the square until about ten years ago. He spent the last few years of his life as a horticulturist.

Mr. Isaacs was a member of the First Baptist church and the Brotherhood class of the I.O.O.F. lodge. He was a kind and loving father and grandfather and always thoughtful of others.

He leaves to mourn his death, the daughter with whom he has made his home the last few months, Mrs. D. O. Sills of Bison, John W. Isaacs of Denver, Colo., two grandsons, Edward and Eugene Palmer of Denver, Colo., and one granddaughter, Clara Margaret of the home, and several nephews and nieces. Mrs. Isaacs preceded him in death one year and eight months ago.
