Joseph A. "Jose" Santiago, a 43-year area resident, died Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y. He was 92.

The son of the late Jose Santiago and Dolores Vega Santiago, he was born December 21, 1914 in Naranjito, Puerto Rico.

He was the widower of June H. Burchfield Santiago.

A retired self-employed General Contractor in Sloatsburg, N.Y., Jose was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II, and was part of the invasion of Normandy. He also worked with the Army Corps of Engineers building the Alcan Highway to Alaska.

Survivors include his sons, Michael Santiago of Buchanan, Va., Anthony Santiago of the Bronx, N.Y., Mark Santiago of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., and Philip Santiago of Monroe; brother, Henry Santiago, and sister, Celestina Santiago, both of San Turce, Puerto Rico; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe, N.Y. on Saturday, January 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held following visitation on Saturday, January 20 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mountainville, N.Y.
