Mr. Lipsey, 72, died July 23, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle. He was born in Columbus on May 3, 1929, to Robert Lynn Lipsey Sr. and Annie Rhodes Lipsey.
He was retired as secretary and treasurer for the City of Columbus. He was a member of First Christian Church of Columbus, where he was a deacon and former treasurer.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and his son, Young Lipsey.
Survivors are his wife, Dot Lipsey of Columbus; his daughters, Patrice Palmer of Athens, Ga., and Lisa Rainer of Brookhaven; his sons, Scott Lipsey of Starkville and Jeff Lipsey of Columbus; his sister, Marianne Graves of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and his brother, Robert Lipsey Jr. of Jackson.
