Russell Alexander

Russell D. Alexander, 56, a former employee of Michigan Bell Telephone, died Sunday, July 4, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo following a three month illness.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Fr. Robert M. Man officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery with arrangements by the Gillespie Funeral Home.

Mr. Alexander was born May 28, 1926, in Coldwater, the son of Dr. Russell G. and Emily Beutler Alexander. A resident of 263 Walnut Dr., Bronson, he was a member of St. Marks's Episcopal Church; The American Legion Post No. 52, Coldwater and the Telephone Pioneers of America. A 1944 graduated of Coldwater High School and a 1951 graduate of the University of Michigan. Mr. Alexander served in the U.S. Air Corps from 1944 to 1947. He retired in 1976 from Michigan Bell Telephone after 25 years of service as a commercial artist.

Survivors include his fiance, Janean Holtz; two sons, James Alexander, Madison Heights, and David Alexander Campos, Pittsburg, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Rodney (Elizabeth) Alcover, Stockton, Calif.; two adopted sons, Tim Alexander and Dan Alexander, both of Detroit; one grandson, and two brothers. Robert N. Alexander, Waunakee, Wisc., and Benson S. Alexander, Port Huron.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, the community Health Center of Branch County or Borgess Medical Center.
