Mrs. Nora Jane Barker passed away on October 25, 2009 at the age of 74 years, five months and 25 days. She had been in the hospital for several months and was a patient in Norman Specialty Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma, at the time of her passing.

She was born on April 18, 1935 on the family farm north of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, the youngest child of Loyd and Olva (Barton) Fry.

Nora Jane grew up on the family farm and attended the two-room school where she received her grade school education and afterwards graduated from Mtn. Grove High School. Shortly after graduation she was united in marriage to Clotis Barker, and to this union two children were born. While growing up she attended Willow Springs Church and was saved in her early teens.

Their family lived in several states due to Clotis' job. After living in Mtn. Grove for a short time they moved to Branson, Missouri, and then to Kansas City, Missouri. From there they moved to Denver, Colorado, and later to Los Angeles, California. While living in Los Angeles, Nora Jane worked as an administrator at a retirement home. They still had one more move to make to Norman, Oklahoma, in 1982. She was a great lover of animals, especially cats; she worked for a veterinary service as long as her health permitted.

Nora Jane was preceded in death by her faithful husband, Clotis, on June 30, 1999; her parents, Loyd and Olva Fry; one brother and his wife, Phillip and Dora Fry; and one brother-in-law, Ray Middleton.

She is survived by her children, Debbie Barker of Norman, Oklahoma, and Jeff Barker of Hurst, Texas; her two grandchildren, Hunter and Kayla Barker; one brother, Wayne Fry and wife Letha of Mtn. Grove; two sisters, Fern Hill and husband Leo of Mtn. Grove and Dorothy Middleton of Cabool, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Lester Barker of Jefferson City, Tennessee, and Herbert Barker and wife Imogene of Ozark, Missouri; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2009, at Willow Springs Freewill Baptist Church near Mtn. Grove with Revs. Gary Fry and Duane Crewse officiating. Music selections were provided by Charles and Brenda Dean. Pallbearers were Jeff and Hunter Barker, Danny and Tim Middleton, and David and Dwight Fry; honorary pallbearers were Dr. Doyle Hill, Charles Dean and Gary Raney. Interment was in Willow Springs Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
