Gerald L. Neighbors

Gerald L. Neighbors, 71, of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday evening October 31, 2009 at Grove General Hospital.

Born February 24, 1938, in Boone County, Arkansas, he was the son of Harry and Opal (Stout) Reynolds. He moved with his family to Winfield when he was three years old and was raised and attended school in Winfield until 1944 when the family moved to Medicine Lodge. He graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in 1956.

He married Linda Freeman in 1958 in Medicine Lodge. To this union two children were born. The couple later divorced. In 1964 Gerald went to work for Cities Service Gas Company, which later became Williams Natural Gas. He remained there for 33 years until he retired in 1997. He was united in marriage to Catherine Cook in 1993 in Waldport, Oregon. The couple made their home in Winfield, until 2003 when they moved to Grove, Oklahoma to be near family.

He enjoyed bowling, fishing, woodworking, and boating.

His family includes: His wife, Cathy of the home; his son, Morse Neighbors of Winfield; his daughter, Lisa Chrisman and husband Joe of Winfield; his stepsons, Terry Cook and wife, Larena of Grove, OK, Randy, and Debbie Cook of Tulsa, OK; his grandchildren, Hollie Neighbors, Kyle Inmon, Kelly Chrisman-Jacques and husband, Martin, Levi Chrisman, Becca Chrisman and his step grandchildren, Logan Cook, Amanda Cook, Emily Cook, Chaise Cook, Brandon Crook, Benjamin Cook, and Maxwell Cook.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 6, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas. Interment followed at Highland Cemetery.
