Mary, born in Brighton, MA, was the youngest child of the late Annie and Martin John Earley. She was a 1939 graduate of the Boston City School of Nursing. While a nurse at Boston City Hospital, she met her husband with whom she recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. In 1947, they moved to the Hartford area where they raised their family. Mary was involved in community activities including the St Francis Hospital Auxiliary, Catholic Family Services, and the Catholic Lending Library. She was a founding parishioner of the Church of St. Timothy, a church board member and aided in the development of the St. Timothy's Women's Club. While in Stuart, FL, she continued her interest in community affairs as a volunteer at Martin Memorial Hospital. Mary enjoyed painting and was a member of many art groups including the local group she founded in Stuart, FL.
Besides her husband, Mary leaves her son Timothy L. Curran Jr. and his wife Dolores of Avon; her son John Curran, MD and his wife Terry of Sudbury, MA; her daughter Elizabeth Curran Wickenkamp and her husband Craig of Mesa, AZ; and her grandchildren Nell Curran Chen and her husband Kevin of Menlo Park, CA, and Tess Curran of Sudbury, MA. Mary also leaves her loving sister-in-law, Mary McGunnigle of West Hartford, CT. Many nieces and nephews also survive her. Her sisters Margaret and Nancy and her brothers Francis and John predeceased her.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Tuesday, November 3, from 4-7 p.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, CT. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 4, at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Timothy, 1116 North Main Street, West Hartford, CT.
Burial of ashes will be private.
