Our wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, Woodrow Allen Mescal Accawanna, age 56, died March 27, 2008 at the Uintah Basin medical Center.
He was born Feb. 24, 1952 in Roosevelt to Wilford Mescal and Irene Accawanna. He was adopted by his grandparents, Jim and Ruby Accawanna and also had a step-father, Jack Redfoot, Sr. He graduated from Union High School. He married Geneva Kanip, in 1974 in Naples.
Woodrow was a cowboy and a "jack -of-all-trades". He always made friends wherever he went and had a good time-living life to the fullest. He was a Sundancer and grew up in the traditional ways, Bear Dance and Native American Church. He loved his horses and his dogs and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and just going to the mountains.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva, Ft. Duchesne; daughters, Elise R. (Dean) Adams, Burns, OR; Sondi R. (Robert) Orona, Mesa, Ariz; Roneva A. (Jose) Valdez; Francisca (Ralphaie Nakai, Jr.) Accawanna, and Spring Dee Accawanna, all of Ft. Duschesne; 8 grandchildren with on on the way; brothers and sisters, Orvella Cuch-Charging, Salt Lake City; Wilburta Cuch, Nephi; Ben Cuch, Rebecca Cuch, Lou Wanda Cuch, all of Ft. Duchesne; Roseanna Cuch, Lapoint; Jamee Chch, Ft. Duchesne; Darren Cuch, Ft. Duchesne; Rosita S. Reed Roosevelt; Jack Redfoot, Jr. Randlett; Sam Redfoot, Randlett; aunt, Melba Accawanna, Myton; Great aunt Etta Wash Toni Carnegie, Okla; and numerous nieces and neaphes.
He was preceded by grandchildren, Allen Orona, Maudia Valdez, an infant brother, parents, grandparents, Jim and Ruby Accawanna, Irene Accawanna, Pete Mountain Sheep, and a brother, Nathaniel Accawanna.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m., Monday March 31, 2008, at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Randlett.
Burial was in the Myton Cemetery under direction of the Hullinger mortuary.
