Lee Shook was born on the homestead of his parents on the Conner flat, near the foot of Shook Mountain which was named for his pioneer father Granville Lee Shook. He grew to manhood in the upper Bitterroot and followed his father's work as a custom thresher for a time. Then went into logging and later into the operation of sawmills. After retiring from the sawmill he filed some mining claims on Woods Creek and lived there during the greater part of his retirement.
Lee married Zella Mae Greenup August 19, 1908 in Hamilton, Ravalli, Montana.
