Son of John L. and Elizabeth (née Wilson) Brown. He enlisted in the Army and served as a Private in Company "E" of the 7th Regiment, Kentucky Infantry during the American Civil War. He was joined in marriage to Helen née Henderson on December 31, 1873, in Campbell, Kentucky. They were the parents of at least 10 sons and 2 daughters. With the single exception of his time in the Army, he lived in Magisterial District 5, Alexandria, Campbell County, Kentucky nearly his entire life. (bio by: Jay Lance)
