Adam Robert Kuykendall, Jr. was the son of Margaret Hardin and Adam Robert Kuykendall, Sr. He was born in 1791 in Kentucky. After moves through Sumner Co, TN, and Henderson Co, KY, the family settled in Arkansas near the Cadron Settlement on the Arkansas River about February 1810. Adam and his father had gone to Texas first, but did not like the area. On their way back home, they passed through Arkansas and decided to settle there. He met Falby Goza and they married about 1820. According to records, they were the parents of three or four children. The exact death date of Adam and Falby is not known. They were alive in 1850 and passed away before 1860. This agrees with my family's oral history that indicates they died the same year as their son Amos (1859).

Note: Family members recall seeing the headstone of Adam Kuykendall in McMillen Cemetery; however, the Arkansas Tombstone Project indicated it was either unreadable or missing by 2010. (photo by Robert Stroupe)
