Brenda was the daughter of Walter GUNIA, Sr. and Dorothy ___________ DEMPKEY. She married Freddie Lavern OAKLEY on 18 February 1967, at the Wesleyan Methodist Church, in Kaleva, Manistee County, Michigan.
They were the parents of three (3) children:

Rose OAKLEY HURST
Brenda was a member of Kaleva Baptist Church, where she had been active as Quiz Leader, head deaconess, church treasurer, and as a member of the Praise and Worship Team. Brenda was an avid sports fan who loved to watch the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions, and she was known for her delicious taco salad. In her spare time, Brenda enjoyed sewing and embroidery, and she could often be found watching the birds and the butterflies outside her home. Most of all, Brenda loved to spend time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 9 November 2009, at the Kaleva Baptist Church, in Kaleva.
