Hannah was the daughter of George and Jane "Jennie" King Lemons. Jane, daughter of Joshua Thomas King and Hannah Kennedy, was born about 1792 in Surry County, Virginia. She was living in Decatur County (Adam Township), Indiana with children Simeon P., Silas A., James H., and Janet in 1850. Her husband, George, probably died in September of 1847 as Jane was the administrator of his estate at that time.

William Hosier(Hushaw) and Hannah Ann Lemon, daughter of George and Jane, were married February 8, 1835 in Decatur County, Indiana. They were the parents of George W. Hosier; Martha J.(Geneva?) Hosier; Louisa Walker; Hannah(Margaret?) Phillips; James Knox Polk Hosier; Nancy E. Hosier Hiday Parson; Elizabeth Gosnell; Phillip Hosier; Lafayette Hosier; and Simon Peter Hosier. William died in 1864 and is buried in the Perkinsville Cemetery in Madison County, Indiana.

Hosier has been spelled various ways over the years. Some of the spellings are: Henshaw, Hoschaar, Hoschar, Hoschauer, Hoschouer, Hoshar, Hoshauer, Hoshouer, Hoshour,Hoshower, Houchar, Houshauer, Houshouer, Houshour, Houshower, Hushaur, Hushour, Hushower, Hosier and Hushaw.
