Funeral services for Pauline Lee "Polly" Cotner Brown Elzy, 74, of Georgetown, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, in the Paul F. Kraft Sr. Memorial Chapel at Generations Funeral Home, New Albany, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Louisville.
She died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, New Albany.
She was retired from the Pediatrics Department at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services and was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church in Clarksville and Angels of Hope at the Cancer Care Center of Southern Indiana.
She was born Jan. 28, 1935, to the late Cecil and Marion Bierly Cotner in New Albany.
Survivors include her daughter, Marsha Smith and her husband, Ralph, of Elizabeth; sons, Sam Schindler and his wife, Sue, of Kansas City, Mo., Joe Schindler and his wife, Vickie, of New Albany, Chuck Brown and his wife, Maureen, of Midlothian, Texas, Bill Brown, of Clarksville and David Elzy and his wife, Dorothy, of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Mary Reed, Diana Weigleb and Glenice Beach, all of New Albany, Carrie Deckard and her husband, Steve, of Sellersburg and Alma Briles and her husband, Jack, of Corydon; brothers, Joe and Lonnie Cotner, both of New Albany, Paul Cotner and his wife, Nelly, of Georgetown and Dennis Cotner, of Floyds Knobs; 12 grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jim Gibbs; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene Elzy; and her sisters, Betty Gibbs and Edna Atchley.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hosparus the Hospice community of Southern Indiana. Condolences to the family can be made at generationsfuneralhome.com.
