OBITUARY - WALTERS

Harriet Elizabeth Graves was born at Palmyra, Nebraska, August 9th 1885, and died at her home near Basil, Kansas, October 26, 1918, aged 33 years, 2 months and 17 days. She was married August 24th, 1904, to Orth J. Walters, and to this union were born two children, Irwin Ray and Orilla May. She moved to Kansas with her parents at the age of one year and has resided here until her death. She was converted early in life and united with the Methodist Episcopal church in Kingman at the age of fifteen, but later had her membership changed to Cleveland. She was a conscientious Christian and very active in church work and will be missed in the community, where her place will be hard to fill.

Her death was caused by an attack of Spanish Influenza which later developed into pneumonia and bronchitis. To the relatives who were at her bedside she expressed her willingness to go if it was the Lord's will.

Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn her loss her father, two sisters and four brothers and a host of friends. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord for their works do follow them. The sympathy of the entire Neighborhood goes out to the husband who was so sick at the time of her death that he was confined to his bed with influenza, and not able to attend the funeral, which took place Sunday afternoon at the Cleveland Cemetery, where many friends and relatives paid their last respects to the departed. Owing to the quarantine there was no service at the church. Her pastor Rev. E. M. Fly, officiated at the grave.
