George Warham Tule, LTC (Ret.) passed away peacefully on October 21, 2009 at the age of ninety-three.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Jane Elizabeth (Latham) Tule and his daughter Carolyn Porter (Tule) Bartosz. He leaves a son, George W. Tule, Jr. and his wife Elsie, with whom he resided in The Villages, Lady Lake, FL. He leaves six grandsons and seven great grandchildren: Daniel W. Tule, Jason P. Tule and Andrew C. Tule (wife Erin – Mary, Matthew and Michaela) all of Florida; Atty. John K. Bartosz (wife Sarah – Jack and Annie); Christopher L. Bartosz (wife Robynn – Alex and Abbie) and David L. Bartosz and his son-in-law Atty. John W. Bartosz all of Wisconsin. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.

George was born in Hartford on July 20, 1916, and lived in West Hartford most of his life and attended local schools, graduating from William H. Hall High School. College had been planned but his father died unexpectedly leaving a recently purchased printing company to be managed – T. B. Simonds, Inc. Plans changed and he attended the Morse School of Business in Hartford. In later years he was also Secretary and Director of Walters Business Forms of Bloomfield, Chairman of the Printing Industry Association of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts and a National Director of the Printing Industries of America, Inc.

While operating the printing company, he was called into the Army to serve three years in Europe with the 106th Division, 423rd Regiment. He fought in noted battles, including the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded numerous medals including the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Bronze Star.

Prior to his Federal service, he had joined the First Company, Governors Foot Guard, the oldest military organization in continuous service in the nation. Returning from Federal service, he rejoined the Governors Foot Guard and advanced in rank over the years and was elected Major Commandant, serving two terms from 1964 to 1972.

During his term, the Command celebrated their Bicentennial Anniversary with notable guests and military organizations from across the country, England, and Canada. The State of Connecticut and Governors Foot Guard awarded him a 60 year medal for his long service. He was a 70 year member of Wyllys St. John's Lodge No 4 A.E. and A.M., raised February 28, 1938, and active in the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Royal Arch Order; fifty year member Sphinx Shrine; a life member of Court 141 Royal Order of Jesters and was a member of The Sojourner. He was not able to accept his Masonic 70 Year Pin at his home Lodge, but it was awarded by The Villages Masonic Lodge #394 on August 7, 2008 by the District Deputy Grand Master, 18th Masonic District of Florida.

A Resolution written by the District Exchange Club of Connecticut congratulated him for his sixty-three years of faithful service to Exchange. He also served ten years on the Board of the Senior Job Bank of West Hartford and was a former member of the West Hartford Senior Old Guard. Senior Pastor Dr. C. Geordie Campbell of The First Church of Christ Congregational, West Hartford, bestowed the honorary title of "Jubilee Member" to George who had been a member of the church for seventy-six years.
