H.H. Hepler, well known pioneer of Macksburg, died at the home of his daughter, Maud Sutherland on June 10, 1931 at
the age of 95 years. Mr. Hepler was born in Westmoreland Co. Penna. in the year of 1836, where he lived with his wife & family, later moving to Adair Co. Iowa. There they lived until 1893 when they came to Oregon & settled on a farm in Macksburg where he lived until the death of his wife in 1915. He then sold his farm & has made his home with his daughter, Maud until the time of death. He is survived by five daughters & 1 son, John Boyd Hepler of Macksburg, Mrs. Nancy Almeda Taber of Oswego; Mrs. Maud Sutherland, Mrs. Ed Morris of Macksburg; Mrs. Harry Fawcett of Seattle; & Mrs. May Johnson of Pullaup, WA and 47 grandchildren. The funeral was held from the Miller Funeral Home, Rev. Fred Lucas officiating & interment was at the Aurora Odd Fellows Cemetery. He had a total of 10 children:Stuart Smith Hepler, William E. Hepler, Barbara Etta Harris of Greenfield, Ia, Mary Catherine Law of Greenfield, Ia. besides the ones living in Oregon. He was married in Penna. 4 Feb 1858.
