W.L. "Bill" Chaffin, 66, of 4711 Kamble Court, died Tuesday. He moved to Tampa three months ago from Albertville, Ala., and was a retired U.S. Air Force colonel after 33 years of service. He was also retired as superintendent of public works for the city of Albertville, Ala. He was awarded the Legion of Merit; was a high priest and prophet of the Canada Shrine Temple; was a member of 32 degree KCCH Scottish Rite Body of Huntsville, Ala., and was a past member of Midland Blue Lodge, Columbus, Ga. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine B.; two sons, Lee of Tampa and Wayne of Overland Park, Canada; two daughters, Theresa Coker of Montgomery, Ala., and Sue Brown of Woodbridge, Va., and five grandchildren.
