Arbie E. Baker, 90, Girard, died Friday, Feb. 14, 1992, at Hospital District No. 1 at Girard, where he was admitted Feb. 5. He had been in failing health since October, 1991 and had been at resident of the Gentry House at Arma for one month.
Mr. Baker was born March 29, 1901 at Hiattville, the son of William Harrison and Lucinda Lung Baker. He grew up and attended school at Hiattville.
He married Louise Grimes Sept 19, 1931, at Girard.
Mr. Baker worked in the oil fields in Oklahoma, Texas and Michigan, before moving to rural Girard in 1951. He retired in 1973 and moved to Girard in 1979.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Maxine Filkel of Girard; one sister, Nellie Talbot of Fort Scott; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Walter H. Baker, who died Jan 16, 1965; and by 14 brothers and sisters.
The Rev. Priscilla Davies will conduct services at 2 pm Tuesday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Girard.
Burial will be in the Girard cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to8 pm today at the Simth-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Girard.
