He was born March 21, 1923, at Picayune, Mississippi, the son of Mac Gipson and his wife Hester, nee Wheat.
On June 6, 1948, he was united in marriage to Mary Jo Jackson at Mayfield, Kentucky.
Mr. Gipson was an electrician in the construction field for many years, and a member of I.B.E.W. Local 1 more than 50 years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Washington, Masonic Hope Lodge 251, and the Eastern Star.
Mr. Gipson was the founder of Gipson Greenhouse.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Jo, on December 20, 1998; one brother, Hirschel Gipson; and one sister, Maude Womack.
He is survived by three sons, Billy Gipson and wife Nellie, Slidell, Louisiana, Ron "Rusty" Gipson and wife Bobbi, Chesterfield, and Larry Gipson and wife Sue, Creve Coeur; one daughter, Phyllis Edler and husband Raymond, Washington; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 27, at First Baptist Church of Washington with Rev. Ky Bishop officiating.
Interment was in the Wildey I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Washington.
