Funeral services for Gus Matthew Richey, 85, were held Friday, January 7 at the Crafton Baptist Church.

He died Wednesday, January 5, 2000 at his residence in Crafton. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers.

Mr. Richey was born February 11, 1914 to John and Pearl (Smith) Richey in Jack County and resided in Crafton his entire life. He was a longtime farmer and rancher. He married Opal Lee Warden in July 1935 in Wise County. He was a member of the Crafton Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Opal Lee Richey of Crafton; two sons, Buddy Richey of Jacksboro and Bobby Richey and wife Frances of Chico; three daughters: Anna Hand and husband Jimmy of Crafton; June Cox and husband Elmer of Denton; Janet Myers and husband Bill of Leander. Also surviving is one sister, Ruby Collie of Jacksboro; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Interment was in the Crafton Cemetery. Services were officiated by Rev. Kenneth Wood and assisted by Bill Myers. Pallbearers were grandsons Bobby Richey, Jimmy Richey, Billy Richey, Doug Richey, Donnie Richey, Eric Cox, Van Cox, Chris Cox, Shay Cox, and Terry Hand.
