DELRAY BEACH, FL E . Robert Garrity , 83 years old, of Delray Beach, FL, a longtime resident of Leominster and Lancaster, died Friday, November 21, 2003 in Bethesda Memorial Hospital in Boynton Beach, FL. He is survived by his wife Ruth A. (Robertson) Garrity , 3 daughters Judith A. Muller of Lancaster, Roberta E . Ashton of London, England, and Pamela I. Balutis of Leominster, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a nephew Edward Robert Garrity of Alexandria, VA. A daughter Diane L. Barry died December 22, 2002 and his brother Edward C. Garrity died October 24, 2003.

Mr. Garrity was born in Leominster, on February 14, 1920, son of Edward and Irene C. (McCaffrey) Garrity . He was a World War II US Navy Veteran and worked in the War Assets Administration. He had been a vice president at the former Tilton & Cook Co. in Leominster and was a former partner of Miles Kedex Co. in Leominster. He was a member of Oak Hill Country Club and the Fay Club both of Fitchburg, Bass Point Club in Lancaster, Delray Beach Club and the Seagate Beach Club both of Delray, FL., the Progressive Era Club of New York City, a life member of the Leominster Lodge of Elks, a Honorary Trustee of Leominster Hospital and a director of the former Merchants National Bank in Leominster.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster with a mass at 10 AM in St. Leo's Church, 128 Main Street, Leominster. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 6-8 PM in the funeral home. The Leominster Lodge of Elks will conduct a ritual service at 6:45 PM. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to the Alex Bennis Fund, c/o Development Office, Sidney Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02115.
