William Anthony Burnich was born 3 April 1928, the son of Francis & Catherine (Galvin) Burnich.

He was a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Marines. He enlisted on 15 Jul 1946 and was released on 2 Feb 1948.

He married Viola Born on 4 January 1951 at Dayton, Montgomery Co Ohio.

They had six children, who all grew up for the most part in Northport, Long Island, New York, which for them was an idyllic place to grow up. They lived on six acres on Bread & Cheese Hollow Road. Next door was a huge apple and peach orchard, which is still there today, protected from development and still in operation.

William spent his working career working for the Long Island Lighting Company.
