CANFIELD -- Ernst Joseph Less, 63, of 45 Court St, died Sunday at 10:25am following a sudden heart attack at St. Paul Monastery where he had been attending church.
Born April 18, 1896 in Walker, Iowa, he was a son of Mathias and Anna Ernst Less.
He had lived in Canfield the past 23 years. He was a locomotive engineer for the Erie Railroad. He was a member of St. Charles Church in Boardman, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and a graduate of Iowa Teachers College. He served with the 211th Engineers in World War I.
Besides his wife, the former Helen Arner, whom he married on Aug 31, 1928, he is survived by two sons, Wendell A of Lockport, Ill and Loren J of fort Knox, Ky: a sister, Mrs. Charles Feicht of Salem; two brother, Anthony a Less of Salem and Walter Less of Mundelain, Ill; and one grandchild.
Funeral service will be Wednesday at 9:30am at Williams funeral Home and at 10am in St. Charles Church.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Leetonia.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday evening.
