Franny was born the son of the late William and Julia (Beecher) Roberts. He proudly served his country in the Civilian Conservation Corps and, later, in the US Army Air Corps during World War II assisting in the building of military airstrips. A painter by profession, he was employed with the DuPont Company for over 31 years before retiring in 1979. Mr. Roberts was a longtime member of St. Anthony's Senior Center in Wilmington. He greatly enjoyed woodworking and painting in his leisure hours. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn C. (White) Roberts, son, Walter W. Roberts, and grandson, Raymond E. Marker. He is survived by children, Mary E. Yon of North Richland Hills, TX; Lillian J. Marker of Magnolia, TX; William K. Roberts, Sr., Richard A. Roberts, and Terri L. Wheeler, all of New Castle, DE; grandchildren, Sherry Yon, Charles Yon, Dawn Roberts, William Roberts, Jr., Lisa Roberts, and Arden Roberts; and great grandchildren, Tyler Yon, Gina Roberts, Brandon Yon, Adriana Roderick, and Dylan Roberts.
