Mrs. Phillips had not been well for some time, being subject to a heart ailment and arthritis, but had been in her usual health until stricken with a heart attack.
A lifelong resident of Wayne Twp., she was born Nov. 20, 1868, a daughter of Jerry and Mary A. Shultz Cole, and lived all her life at the family homestead where she died. Her husband preceded her in death in April, 1944. Mrs Phillips had been a member of the Kuhntown Methodist Church for many years. Accustomed to a life of activity all her life, she had taken up embroidery in late years to occupy her time.
Surviving are a son, Layton Phillips of Pine Bank RD 2, Kuhntown, one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Mary O.) Headley of Pine Bank RD 2, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a half-sister, Mrs. Laura Rhome of Moundsville, W. Va. One son, Walter L. Phillips, was killed in action in France while serving with US troops in World War l. One brother, two half- brothers and two grandchildren are also deceased.
