Grace was 96 years of age having been born on Feb. 21, 1913, west of Paplin, Nebraska to John J. and Elizabeth (Gappa) Badura.
Grace is survived by; sons and daughters-in-law, John R. and Cheryl Smedra and Frank and Betty Smedra, all of Ord, Nebraska and Tom and Debora Smedra of Mason City, Nebraska and sister, Florence Chilewski of Loup City, Nebraska.
Grace as a young child moved with her family to a farm west of Loup City, Nebraska and attended Moon Creek rural school near Loup City, Nebraska. Upon completing her education she farmed with her family.
She was united in marriage to John A. Smedra on January 31, 1939, at Loup City, Nebraska. The couple lived and farmed in Sherman County, Nebraska buying the Smedra home place in 1953. Grace continued to live on the farm until two-and-a-half weeks ago.
She was a member of St. Josephat's Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women and Rosary Sodality of Loup City, Nebraska.
She enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, canning and cooking for her family.
Grace was welcomed into The Heavenly Home; by her parents, John J. and Elizabeth Badura; husband, husband John A. Smedra; brothers, Alex, Ben, Tony, John, Edmund, Stanley, Hubert and Mike Badura; and sisters, Anna Carkoski; Antasia Jarzynka; Elizabeth John; Nellie Badura; Josie Kuta and Emma Martin.
