French jurisconsult and politician. He served as Minister of Justice (December 25, 1799 - September 14, 1802); Senator of the Empire (27 fructidor an X: September 14, 1802); and as a Member of the House of Peers. He was created 1st Comte Abrial of the Empire, letters patent of April 26, 1808; Pair for life by ordinance of June 4, 1814, First Restoration; and was confirmed of a hereditary peerage, by the ordinance of August 19, 1815, Second Restoration. Abrial was a Grand Officer of the Legion of Honour.
