In her early 20's, Zerlene moved to Kansas City, Kansas, where she met her future husband. They later moved to Oregon where they made their home.
Zerlene held various jobs and was primarily a stay at home mom, raising the children. She was active as a cub scout den mother for Charles.
In the late 90's she relocated from Oregon to Neosho Falls, Kansas, where she lived until entering a nursing home in Iola, Kansas in Feb 2002. She remained a resident of nursing home, being visited every day (sometimes more than once) by her husband.
On 19 July 2004 Zerlene passed away. She was survived by her husband, her three children and daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, and her brother Elmer Dean Phillips.
Her parents, two brothers, Leonard Leon Phillips and Harold David Phillips, and sister, Lorita Bott, preceeded her in death.
She will always be fondly remembered for her sneezes (very distinct), her direct manner, and the tireless work she did.
