Barbara served in the United States Air Force as a Airman 1st Class from 06-06-1969 to 10-22-1970. She earned a National Defense Medal.
Barbara met an untimely death. Her murder is still unsolved, as is what really happened to her. Her bones were discovered out in the desert in Tuscon, AZ. She had been shot in the head. For unknown reasons her parents didn't claim her body. Her bones were stored at the University of Arizona in the Arizona State Museum for 36 years. Her cousin Rosalie had posted information about her online and a volunteer contacted her. Rosalie arranged for Barbara to be cremated and have her ashes sent back home to Michigan.
