Spenner Services Held At Holy Cross Church Funeral services for Carl Spenner, who died Sunday, June 15, at a Norfolk hospital, after almost two years illness, were held June 17 at 9:30 from the Ray Smith funeral home to the Holy Cross Catholic church at Beemer. The Rev. John Devar officiated and interment was in the Holy Cross cemetery. Mrs. Edward Hanzel was the organist and the Holy Cross choir sang the requiem mass.
Pallbearers were Norbert Spenner, Andrew and Casper Gentrup, jr., Bernard and Charles Franzluebbers and Leonard Peatrowsky.
Carl Anton Spenner was born July 6, 1895, at West Point, to Anton and Mary Spenner, nee Schueth, and received his education in the Cuming County rural and Guardian Angels schools. He lived in Cuming County all his life and was a member of the Holy Cross church and Holy Name society. Spenner was married to Miss Caroline Ortmeier, Oct. 7, 1925, at the Monterey church and to this union six girls and four boys were born of whom Bernadine and Anton died in infancy. Mrs. Spenner preceded her husband in death April 27, 1949.
Survivors are the children; Clare, Mrs. Edmund Kluthe of Beemer, Gertrude of Omaha, Francis, Mrs. Robert Van Buskirk of Lincoln, Martha, Mrs. Alfred Kluthe of Dodge, Arthur of Lincoln, Gilbert and Mary of Beemer and Bernard of Dodge, his step mother, Mrs. Gertrude Spenner of West Point, sister, Margaret, Mrs. Casper Gentrup of Beemer, brother, John of West Point, a half brother, Christopher Spenner of West Point, three grandchildren, Michael and Patricia Kluthe of Beemer and Donald Kluthe of Dodge.
Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were Rev. Ignatius Spenner and Miss Matilda Spenner of Central City, Mr.Mrs. Paul Herman of Omaha, R. F. Schueth of Minneapolis, Minn.
