Ann Mary Ridings was the daughter of James Ridings and Ann (Newman) Ridings. She married John Henry Anderson on 11 December 1851 in Frederick County, Virginia.

Ann and John had six children: Lilla Virginia Anderson, Emma F. Anderson, Mary Alice Anderson, James Warren Anderson, Johnny F. Anderson, and Cora Belle Anderson.

Ann's husband John served as a Confederate Soldier in the Civil War from 1862 to 1865.
