FORMER LOCAL RESIDENT DIES AFTER ILLNESS

Last Rites Held Here Yesterday Afternoon for Mrs. Fred Maynard

Funeral services were held here at the Oliver Chaussee home at 3:30 Friday afternoon for Mrs. Fred Maynard, former Vermillion resident who died at her home at Correll, Minn., early Wednesday morning. The Rev. W.C. Deer, of the Vermillion Baptist church, conducted the services and interment was in Bluff View cemetery under the direction of the Elmore funeral service.

Mrs. Maynard, the former Myrtle Luella Washburn, of Vermillion had been ill for about a week when death occurred. She was 80 years of age.

The deceased was born at Vermillion, Septmeber 20, 1876, and grew to womanhood in this locality. May 27, 1896 she was united in marriage to Fred Maynard, also of this locality. The couple and family moved to Correll, Minn., their present home, about 21 years ago.

Pallbearers were all old friends and relatives. They were Roy Washburn, Sioux City; Albert Oney, Burbank; Ed Smith, Correll; Henry Smith, Correll; Percy Knoll, Correll, and Oliver Washburn, Vermillion.

The remains arrived here late Thursday night from Correll, accompanied by three carloads of relatives and friends of the deceased.

Surviving are the husband, Fred Maynard; five sons, Fred, Wayne, Ralph and Max of Correll, Minn., and Earl of Appleton, Minn., six daughters, Gail and Vera Maynard of Correll, Mrs. Frances Knoll, Correll, Mrs. Helen Clapp, Correll, Mrs. Alma Bettelff, Ponca, Neb., and Mrs. Nona Trudeau, of Elk Point; one sister, Mrs. Celia Chaussee, Vermillion; four brothers, Norman Washburn, Vermillion, and Ed, Frank and Harry Washburn, of Sioux City; 31 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
