Amedea was the daughter of Italian immigrants Pietro Galvani and Calypsa Leonilda Ruffini. Her father and her mother's brother, Alcide Ruffini, owned and operated a bicycle shop, which later became an automotive garage on the corner of Suosso Lane and Court St in Plymouth. Later, her brother Pino Galvani worked with Uncle Alcide in the garage. Amedea taught school in the Plymouth area school system for many years and was a most beloved teacher by anyone who was her pupil.
