Virginia Marie Peterson
Virginia Marie Peterson died November 12, 2009 in Houston following a short illness.
She was born in Pittsburg on July 20, 1927 to Thomas Joseph and Mary Katherine Postai Rae.
She attended Pittsburg schools and received a Bachelor and Masters in Education from Kansas State Teachers College.
She taught 5th grade at Lincoln Elementary School from 1961 to 1992.
For several years she was a part owner of Occasions gift shop.
In 2004 she moved to Katy, TX.
In 1948 she married Warren Myers Peterson in Pittsburg,KS. He died in 1958.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Pauline Haley and Katherine Rae.
She is survived by 3 daughters and their husbands, Cynthia A. and Steven Jones, Zirconia, NC, Nancy K. and Sanford T. Taylor, Brookshire, TX, and Linda L. Daniels, Hutchinson,KS.
She is also survived by 6 Grandchildren, Victor Van Tassel, Haiku, HI, Rebecca Light, Pittsburg, KS, Brian Cussimanio, Austin,TX, Nathan Daniels, Bloomington, Indiana, Paul Daniels, Hutchinson, KS and Austin Taylor, Brookshire, TX and 8 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mrs. Peterson will be 2:00 p.m., Monday November 16, 2009 at the Brenner Mortuary with Father John Hay as celebrant.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
