Long-time Rim of the World Unified School District teacher Maureen (Clancy) Williams, 50, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at 2 a.m. after a battle with cancer. She was born on Feb. 22, 1956, in Barstow. Maureen, who lived in Crestline, and a former resident of Barstow, had been a teacher for a total of 27 years, the last 17 with the Rim School District. She graduated from Barstow High School and attended the University of California, Riverside, where she earned her bachelor's degree and teaching credential. She earned a master's degree at the University of LaVerne. Maureen's life revolved around her faith, her family and her friends. She loved the mountains, the desert and the beach. Apart from teaching, her passions were her children, gardening, cooking, and, of course -- chocolate. Her laugh was infectious, her friends were many. She touched everyone she knew in a very special way. Maureen will be missed but not forgotten. Maureen is survived by her husband, John, a local artist in Crestline; son, Matthew, an eighth-grade student at Mary Putman Henck Inter mediate School; daughter, Katrina, a fifth-grade student at Lake Gregory Elementary; mother, Beverly Crist of Barstow; brothers, Pat Clancy and his wife, Lisa, of Colorado and Mike Crist of Barstow; sister, Kay Crist-Lovato of Barstow; and many nieces, nephews, and brother and sister-in-laws.
