Samuel Blackman served during the Revolutionary War; rank of Private, from 14 Oct 1781 to 24 Oct 1781 from Partridgefield, Berkshire Co., MA. His company marched to Stillwater, MA on an alarm for a total of 10-days service in Captain Jonathan Thayer's Company, Col. Barnes's Regiment.

His 1st wife was Mehitabel Long, daughter of Silas Long and Lydia Evarts, b. 28 Oct 1739 in Coventry, Tolland Co., CT and probably died in Partridgefield, Berkshire Co., MA. No official record of her death has been found. A deed signed on 9 Sep 1788 by both Samuel and Mehitabel is the last known mention of Mehitabel.
