Ilion - Alton M. Babcock, 62, of 142 West St., son of long time Ilion police chief dies yesterday in an Ilion hospital. Mr. babcock was born in Lyons Falls. He married Alice Kennedy in Ilion in 1921. He was a resident here for 28 years. He retired in 1960 from the Sperry Rand UNIVAC Division.

He was a member of the Church of Annunciation, its Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus. Besides his wife, he leaves five daughters. Mrs. George (Nancy) Donowiak and Mrs. Robert (Marion) Costello. both of Utica; Mrs. Thomas (Margaret) Papa. Oneonta; Mrs. Ronald (Barbara) Jones, Binghamton, and Mrs. John (Kay) Williams. Ilion, and a sister, Miss Alice Babcock,
Ilion.

The funeral will be at 8:30 Monday from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home and 9 from the Church of the Annunciation with a solemn requiem Mass. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
