Wallace Leroy Lien passed away at MeritCare Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, ND on Friday, November 6, 2009.

Wally was born in Hillsboro, ND to Tilman E. Lien & Artha (Thompson) Lien on March 8, 1936. Wally attended school in Hillsboro, ND. He moved to Fargo in 1956. He married Betty Jane Clemenson on July 9, 1956 in Horace, ND. Wally served in the Army National Guard from 1958-1960 and trained in Fort Leonardwood, MO. Wally started working at the age of 14 for the Hillsboro Bakery. He then worked for the railroad as a steel worker. He was also a barber at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. He owned Wally's Barber Shop & Sauna in Hillsboro, ND. Red barbered at the Holiday Barber Shop in Moorhead, MN. He was the district sales manager for General Cigar & Co. and Nachurs Fertilizer. Wally enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as spending time with his family and friends. He also loved to bake and cook, tell jokes and enjoyed playing bingo. Wally was one of thirteen founding members of Muskies Inc. FM Chapter and was named Mr. Muskie of the Year.

He is survived by his son, Jeffery (Marlene) Lien of Winnipeg, MB; his daughters: Tamera (Jerry) Clarke of Meridan, KS; Teresa (Nick) Mita of Clarksville, TN; Rosanne (Robert) Lively of Fargo, ND; his granddaughters: Amber Lien, Ashley and Kristine Mita, Lisa Lively; his grandsons: Cody Lien and Zachary Lively; his stepgranddaughter, Jill Tanner; his sister, Rosalie (Robert) Hertwig of Hillsboro, ND; his brother, Clarence (Irene) Lien of Hillsboro, ND and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tilman and Artha Lien, his sister Cathryn Lien and his brother, James Lien. He was also preceded in death by his friend, Juneal Miller.

Visitation: 4-6 PM Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo – and also one hour prior to the service in the church on Wednesday

Prayer Service: 6 PM Tuesday at Boulger Funeral Home

Funeral Service: 11 AM Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Hope Lutheran Church – South Campus in Fargo

Burial: 3 PM Wednesday at Riverside Cemetery in Hillsboro, ND
