Billy Truett Smith
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, April 7, 1994, from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for Billy Truett Smith, 69, of New Hebron. He died April 5, 1994, at Magee General Hospital. Rev. Charles Rodgers and Rev. Charles Davis officiated. Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Saulters-Moore Funeral Home in charge.
Honorary pallbearers were Archie Bass, Kenneth Little, Carroll Berry, J. M. Ashley, Laney Berry, Roscoe Smith, Johnny Buckley, William Holmes, Bill Little, Moody Little and Morgan Donaldson.
Active pallbearers were Larry Joe Smith, Paul Foster, Vernon Errington, Russ Berry, Barney “Dick” Smith and Jimmy Smith.
Mr. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Simpson County, son of the late Julius and Etta Swilly Smith. For 26 years he was employed as a machinist for Magna Tech in Mendenhall; having retired in 1990. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he was a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Church Treasurer.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marcia Smith; one son, Kendall Smith of McComb; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Little of New Hebron; and three grandchildren.
