GARNER, JAMES - age 84, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was an active member and deacon at Farmers Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by wife of 41 years, Wanda Mae Hackney Garner; parents, James Hence Garner and Nannie Mae (Cross) Garner; mother and father-in-law Edward and Maude Hackney; brothers Herbert, Bill, and Leo Garner, sister Naomi Rainey; 4 infant siblings; grandson Jeff Nelson; great granddaughters Samantha and Stephanie Garner. He is survived by children Steve and Patsy Garner of Clinton, TN, Patricia and Bobby Carroll of Clinton, TN, Aline and Michael Nelson of Clinton, TN, Sharon and Ronald Gaus of Oak Ridge, TN, Melinda and Dallas Martin of Heiskell, TN, Stanly and Jo Garner of Halls, TN, Jeff and late wife Helen Garner of Knoxville, TN, Sheila and Hoby Miracle of Clinton, TN, Judy and Darrell Metcalf of Harriman, TN; 19 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; brother Earl and Ruby Garner of Chattanooga, TN; sisters Martha Gortha of Morristown, TN, Virginia and George Qualls of Harriman, TN, Catherine and Carley Carroll of Rutledge, TN, and Ruby Dedries of Ooltewah, TN. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm, Monday, June 21, 2009 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home. His funeral service will be 11:00 am, Tuesday in the chapel with Rev. Mac Smith and Rev. Joe Copeland officiating. His burial will follow at the Woodhaven Memorial Garden.
