N. Grace (Kutzner) Cameron, 102, of Memphis, passed away on June 1, 2006 at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis.
She was born the daughter of Walter L. and Mary Helena (Luman) Kutzner on January 1, 1904 in Garfield County, Oklahoma, near Kremlin.
Grace received her schooling in Scotland County, attending her last year of grade school at Cedar Grove, northwest of Gorin.
Grace accepted Christ as her savior at a young age.
She married Alfred Bruce Cameron of Clark County on February 25, 1925 in Fort Madison, IA. He preceded her in death in 1952.
For a time, the young couple worked at the Schaeffer Pen Company. In 1929, in the beginning of the Great Depression, they purchased a farm just outside of Clinton, IA. Through hard work, they managed to prosper in spite of the hard times.
While they had no children of their own, they adopted a son, Roger, and other children found haven in their home.
Following Alfred's death in 1952 from cancer, Grace has traveled extensively. She visited 39 countries, including the Holy Land.
Grace was an avid reader, loved the arts, theater and was a supporter of both. She raised many beautiful flowers as long as her health permitted. Bouquets of her many beautiful floral arrangements found their way into many homes and hospital rooms in Clinton.
She also enjoyed painting china. Many a home has been graced by her lovely china paintings, which she generously gave away. On Tuesdays, a number of friends would gather at her home to learn china painting and to enjoy fellowship with each one another.
Grace was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers: George L., Paul N. and Vane L. Kutzner; sisters: Irene Kutzner Manka, Dorothy Kutzner Bendlage, Thelma Kutzner Keiser, Evon Kutzner Howe, and Faye Kutzner See.
She is survived by her son, Roger; sisters, Helen Kutzner Chambers, who is 103, and Estalene Kutzner Kugler, who is 92; grandchildren, Laurie, Jennifer, and Matthew Cameron; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, one sister-in-law, and many friends.
Funeral services were held June 3, 2006, at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis with the Rev. Dan Hite officiating. Schelle Cooley performed musical selections. Burial was in the Clinton Memorial Park Cemetery in Clinton, IA.
