Ruth Mary Stockdick Williams passed away November 10, 2009, in a Katy hospital after more than a century of life.

She was born April 8, 1909 in the Stockdick family farmhouse outside of Katy, Texas to William Chester and Zeta Helen Morrison Stockdick.

She graduated from Katy High School in 1927, and attended business college following that.

In 1930, she married Lester Leon Williams, a union which lasted more than 66 years until his death in 1997.

Throughout her life, Ruth was involved in countless service organizations in Katy, Rosenberg and Brookshire, Texas.

She was a member of the Brookshire Chapter #652, Order of the Eastern Star, and served with the Boy Scouts and the PTA.

She was also a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Brookshire for more than 60 years.

Most of those years were spent teaching elementary Sunday School, as well as serving in other needed capacities in the church.

She was also a member of the church prayer chain until shortly before her death.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Williams, her grandson, Reggie Williams, and her parents. Also preceding her in death are her sisters and brothers, Fabiola and Carey Pitts, Mabel and Arthur "Nubby" Robichaux, Norma and Albert Thompson, W.C. Stockdick, Adam Maurice Stockdick, Zeta Helen Bruton, and Ramona and Whitt Bains, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ruth is survived by her Son and Daughter-in-Law, grandchildren, and Sister-in-Law, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of life-long friends.

Her friends at FUMC, Brookshire are also a special part of her extended family.

Ruth leaves a heritage of unending faith and devotion to her family.

She leaves a legacy to her children and grandchildren that is more valuable and precious than money, land or possessions - a love for God's Word and God's Presence in our lives. "Well done, good and faithful servant..."

Body will lie in state from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M., Monday, November 16, 2009, at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Brookshire where family will be present to receive friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church in Brookshire.

Interment will follow in Memorial Oaks Cemetery which is located at 13001 Katy Freeway in Houston, Texas.
